Myself and a couple friends are starting to get our preps (at least a majority of them) in serious order. We have started to stock food (not much, maybe a couple months each at most), Water (A few cases of water bottles each), and some basic medical supplies that you can find at a dollar store. I know its not much, but its a start and we are on a strict budget. But, we all feel better of our chances should we get by a major storm (IE Severe Thunderstorm that knocks out power for a couple days, blizzard, etc.), power outage or any short term emergency. We also have started to squirrel a few bucks a month into our savings accounts so we can make group purchases of various items.
We are now starting to turn out attention to firearms. I already have my LTC (License to Carry firearms), and my other two friends should be taking their safety course within the next month or so. Our goal is obviously an AR/AK style rifle, but given our lack of funds, I have made the suggestion of military surplus to be our home defense/Bugout rifles.
What would be a good military surplus rifle to standardize on without breaking the bank?? My idea would be a WW1 or a WW2 rifle (Garand, M1 Carbine, M1903, Mosin, Lee Enfield, Mauser, etc.) to show at least some standardization of weapon and caliber. But, I am open to any and all suggestions.
Thanks,
Sean Hickey
