Catalyst for Alert

Let me preface my statement with the fact that I'm a bit paranoid by nature. I stay absolutely engaged with current events and the general happenings of the world. This is a legacy item from my time in the military where my unit could be deployed to any hot spot in the world in 12-18 hours, so it was important to keep track of these kinds of situations.

At first glance I would agree with you and say that things (bad things, abnormal things, etc.) seem to be occurring with increasing frequency over the last couple of months. However, I also see clear motives behind them.

- Increased terrorist activity? Is it Ramadan? Have we (U.S./Allied forces) recently knocked out a high-value target somewhere in the world?

- Police ambushed by angry citizens? Have there been a rash of (POTENTIALLY) unjustified shootings that have folks riled up and looking for blood?

I'll definitely say that things seem to be getting more chaotic than they used to be, but the world is also changing. Violence is becoming the go-to method of influence over society, rather than debate. In short, people are becoming fatigued with talking about how bad things are and now are taking it into their own hands to do something (right or wrong) about it.

Take comfort in the fact that we (on this forum) are like-minded and see things as you do. Frequency and severity of "incidents" (the two major factors of risk management that I use in my job) are both increasing, which means that something is in fact happening. We just have to make sure that we're all standing when we get through to the other side.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
