Fresnel lens to purify water

I am thinking of using a fresnel lens to heat a cast iron pot to boil and/or distill water. Has anyone done this?

I saw where the fresnel lens will bring things up to 3000 degrees! So, this should be a cost effective way to heat the water if the extreme heat can be controlled. The program I watched showed the fresnel lens concentrated the heat to set wood on fire in a couple of seconds, melt steel tongs in a few seconds, and actually melted a rock in about 20 seconds! They said lava was about 2000 degrees and therefore the fresnel lens - which gets to 3000 degrees - could easily melt the rock.

I am wondering if the cast iron pot would dissipate the heat from the fresnel lens into the water quickly enough to prevent damage to the cast iron pot.

Any help on this project would be greatly appreciated.
