Lost my last doggy today - 4th in 15 months

We lost Peggy Sue this afternoon. She was a beautiful 12 yr old Golden that we were given 7 years ago. She was a perfect farm dog, loving to run through mud puddles, roll in any kind of poop that any creature left on our 20 acres, was as gentle as anything I've ever seen with babies, cats, other dogs, and people.

We took her from a home that kept her in a cage, she weighed 45 lbs when we brought her home. She weighed 69 lbs this morning, and had not an ounce of fat, although she loved it when I called her chubby.

She was off her food yesterday, which we put down to heat. This morning, she was still off her feed, and fell of the couch and had a seizure. We took her to the vet for tests, although I think I knew. The vet called with the bad news: Cancer of the spleen and liver, internal bleeding, and probably bleeding in the brain, which caused the seizure. They offered to send her home overnight, but I just couldn't do it. I held her as she passed this afternoon @ 1512 hrs.

What a great dog - I hope to have another as good.
