Survival weapon. Can a springer (Break Barrel) .177 cal pellet rifle kill a coyote?

There has been endless discussion on this forum about what weapon would be the best for wilderness survival. There are some strong arguments for both side of the big bore vs small bore issue. But when it all comes right down to it, shot placement is really the most important thing.

While, I would never suggest that a springer (break Barrel) .177 cal pellet rifle should be a persons only survival weapon, there are several advantages to it for basic food acquisition. These are; It is reliable, relatively quite, easy to use, requires minimal maintenance, ammo is cheap and can be carried in large quantities, and it can kill most small edible game animal with ease. But can it kill larger game?

Well, you might not think it can but, here is a video that will raise some eyebrows. The gun used in this video is a 25 year old RWS model 36 .177 cal rifle. The gun is OEM stock and has no aftermarket enhancements. The pellet used is a Gamo Hunter 7.56gr pellet. You may not believe just how powerful this gun can be if the shot placement is correct.
