Instead of switching it over, you would probably be better off keeping it electronic, and have another one with points installed ready to swap out. That's what I did with my old '68 ford truck. I got a new shaft and bought the electronic kit to upgrade it to electronic ignition and just kept the old one with points and put it in a bag under the seat, along with an extra set of points, condensor, cap and rotor.
