what im making for dinner tonight is gumbo.. i like gumbo best when it contains one pork product and one white meat.. so smoked sausage and chicken breast works great, but this time im using a package of bear creek gumbo mix, and for meat its 1 12oz can of pre-cooked chicken breast (i get canned chicken in a 4 pack from walmart) as the white meat component, and for the pork product i am using a can of spam, diced
so i fry up the spam and canned chicken together in a 3 quart pan in a little olive oil and season it with some seaon-all (salt, paprika, onion, garlic, pepper, etc), once thats done i just dump in the sealed package of seaoning, rice, and dried veggies, fill the pan up near the top with water, bring to a boil, simmer, and 30 minutes later, its a meal requiring nothing frozen, nothing refridgerated, nothing fresh, and nothing thats going to expire anytime soon
any other meal ideas you guys can come up with that can be stored through long periods of no power?
100% non perishable cooking?
