funny things non-preppers do to prep

If you all didn"t hear, we've had a little bit of a flooding problem up here in Wisconsin, Minnesota and Iowa. As flooding has slowly become the norm around here it is one of the things that we are prepared for. So, after making sure family, friends and some neighbors were ready, after filling hundreds of sandbags to help those less fortunate, and after some friends came over to stay and help with chore and drinking my wine we settled in for the joys of not being able to leave until the water recedes.

Yesterday my across the river neighbor motored across the river and brought a couple cases of vanilla coke with her. Seems she had bought them to get ready to be flooded in but didn't bother to buy enough water. When her power went out her pump stopped working and suddenly--no water. It's amazing how important that stuff is. So we let her fill up her water containers and she was grateful. But why put up several cases of vanilla coke but no water when you know you need electricty to get said water and there's a very good chance that will be cut off (flood water and electricty don't mix all that well).

Anyway, this got me remembering back in 2004 when a young woman moved to Wisconsin from down south somewhere and bought 30 pairs of really good socks but no hat, not gloves, and no boots. I got to meet her with socks tied around her head when she was out buying a hat.

It's cute and funny because noone got hurt.

Any one else got a non-prepper prepping story?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
