Best Denver area Neighborhoods

Not sure if this is going to happen or not, but it's possible I could be getting transferred to Denver soon. I'd have a choice, so it's not do or resign, but it'd be a decent step up. Coming from the metro NY area, this would be a big change.

I've spent a fair amount of time in Denver area, both in town on business and probably have over 100 ski days in state. But that's different than living there. As much as I'd like to be a bit in the mountains, there's no way wife will go for that. We'd be looking at areas southwest of town. For example, Morrison or Littleton or a bit further out; maybe beyond the 470 loop, but not quite to the farm or mountains. My goal would be to be in a decent 'burb, but without neighbors right on top of us.

We're checking all the schools and neighborhood ratings. But that stuff is all sanitized. Looking for some real deal info. Maybe not so much on what the best areas are. More what's the honest truth about where should definitely avoid. We're concerned with all the usual stuff, but also with schools from K - 12 as we've got young kids.
