Most efficient light

Today I was thinking about light production. I was thinking if a situation presented that 1 person in the household had to stay awake all night as somewhat of a sentry, it would be pretty tough to do without light. I'm not talking about walking patrol or anything -just someone in the house taking turns being aware and awake.

I think votive candles are a decent idea and I do have some. But it might be good to have a battery powered option -something more portable, safe, and easy to turn off/on. I have an LED headlamp with a dim setting that is rated to last 175 hours ---but that takes 4 AA batteries.

Do any of you know of a good long-lasting and dim headlight? I've seen a lot on here about durable lights and bright lights, but not efficient dim lights.
