Restoring batteries?

Hey,

So I've been trying to plan out a way to keep my batteries fresh.

Even right now my laptop's battery barely holds a 10 minute charge (it's 3 years old)....

Basic essentials. Car battery will only last a year... Laptop if i could...

Is there a way you know to restore batteries?

I've been looking into setting up solar panels. Looks like a good way to cut electricity at worst. But been thinking about the battery bank... Still far far far from anywhere knowledgeable about this if you couldn't tell. Just from a day or two of reading around here.
