Butter Beans

My grandpa's grandpa moved from NC to Georgia in the 1700s.

We ate large white beans that were called "Butter Beans", and grandpa grew miles of them. They were only lightly marked, if at all, and soft but not mushy. Up to 1" or even bigger.

I caught my first fish on one, and grandpa told me our family had grown them since they got to Georgia. Not green, not purple, not very speckled, and not colorfully marked. Food of the Gods.

Now, trying to buy them, I see a mass of confusion about what is a lima, what is a butter bean, and even that they're actually the same thing.

Can someone enlighten me on this?
