Aero Precision M5 308 second round feed problem

DefaultAero Precision M5 308 second round feed problem

I am having a feeding problem with an Aero Precision, M5, 308 AR. This was a build for a friend. Actually, there are two having the same problem.
The first round is chambered by releasing the Bolt carrier group from the BCG release. It slams forward, trigger pull fires the round, then ejects it, BCG slides forward and stops approximately ¼ short of completely loading the round in the chamber.
This is a new build, and this was when he tried to fire 25 rounds. 2 out of 25 times a push on the forward assist would seat the round enough for a trigger pull to fire. All the other times, he would hear a click, then nothing happens. So he drops the magazine, then ejects the round via the charging handle. The magazine is re-inserted, locked back the BCG, hits the release and another round slam forward. It fires, ejects, then the next round stops short of fully chambering the round.
Brass shavings can be seen as well. Several places around the fins of the bolt shinny spots can be seen that appears to be “nicks”. This is a new build with a total of 20 to 25 rounds fired. Only two of the times did it fire after pushing the forward assist. The other times it fired only when the round was sent to battery by hitting the bolt carrier release.
Receivers are Aero Precision M5, bolt carrier Aero Precision Phosphate coated, barrel Bear Creek Arsenal.
Any suggestions anyone has will greatly be appreciated. Thanks.
