And so,
The HKS 22LR-HR 9 shot speedloader for HR 9 and Taurus 94 work in the Alfa 12-20" barrel revolving carbines, and Alfa Proj revolvers with regular grips.
Its possible the speedbeez for the Taurus might as well, awaiting one to test

How do you stay warm?
The curtains make a HUGE difference, if I lift one to look outside in the morning I can feel ice cold air radiating off the window even with the plastic on it, they are equally effective to block sun/heat in the summer. I do use mylar/cardboard on a back prep storage room since those windows are never used anyway, but I frequently look out the rest of the house windows so no cardboard on those.
If it is really cold putting mylar blankets underneath the sheets and in between blankets (plus under dog bed covers) is very warm too, but it does make a crinkly noise. Putting mylar on the wall or even the ceiling behind stoves/heaters also helps to direct heat into a room instead of warming up the wall (but keep away from open flame else you will have a disaster on your hands).
I also need to make a couple of these. No sewing required, people can use old wrapping paper roles, material and glue if they don't sew.

Another baofeng question.
I just recently purchased two baofeng uv-5rtp's and just loaded some stuff from chirp (FRS, gmrs, murs, etc...) And for some reason one of my radios won't transmit on gmrs but the other will...I transmitted on FRS just fine. Not sure what the problem is since I'm so new to this. Any suggestions? Preferably in layman's terms?

Nickle plated colt .44
If it was a Remington copy I would consider fixing it - much stronger design and shoots better too.
Parts need to be fitted for nickel plating prior to plating. I would bet even your cleaned up rusty stuff will still need properly fitted to work correctly. The old nickel plating was applied over a copper flashing layer. I think you can get a kit to electroplate the layers on.
cost way more than the pistol is worth.

Anybody sick with cold/flu/etc. over the holidays?
I had H1N1 when it was going around four or five years ago and spent Christmas Eve in a doc-in-the-box and then in the pharmacy line at Walgreens. I sincerely hope to not repeat the experience.
I don't get out a lot in public, and I'm neurotic about using hand sanitizer on shopping cart handles. I keep a big bottle of it in the vehicles, and paper towels, and I use it liberally. I kind of wish Americans would copy the Japanese model of wearing a surgical-type face mask when sick.
I understood that the current flu strain that is causing so many issues (H3N4? Something like that?) mutated after the vaccine was formulated several months ago and it is the mutated variant that is so virulent right now, and the vaccine only has an approx. 10% efficacy against that strain.
Family member who is a physician said, quote, 'stay out of Wal Mart'. Says their practice has been inundated with flu patients.

Fasting diet
There is merit to fasting. I read a study years ago that said carnivores in zoos are starved one day per week. That adds about 20% to their lifespan.
Fasting can be a good way to prevent weight gain, avoid sugar and bad carbs, and let the body regulate itself. Some people sip lemon juice on their fasting days. Lemon juice is supposed to have cleansing properties.
The best diet I've ever seen is the South Beach Diet. It focuses on avoiding sugar and bad carbs. The bad carbs in our diet include corn, potatoes, white rice and wheat. They are as bad as eating sugar. This diet focuses on a glycemic index for foods, which indicates how fast a carb is turned into sugar.
If your goal is to lose weight, control diabetes or lower your A1C, IMHO the South Beach Diet can be a winner.

Hello, I'm new here
I do write my own blog, it's at Oddbonkins.com. It's called Tech Rage. I have a lot of that. My main deal about that is that while technology can certainly be useful, it should work, and work as stated and advertised. I am highly annoyed by uncaring, incompetent and dishonest corporations that take your money for a service or product that doesn't work right, or is dangerous and unhealthy. I did not post this month, for example, because I have an uncertain and inadequate internet supplier that can't get my billing right, supplied me with the wrong plan and product even though I was very clear what my needs were, and apparently has no competent or honest customer service or billing representatives. Beware buyer, if you go to a Verizon store and have any problems, Verizon will tell you the stores are "different" and they aren't responsible for dishonest crappy things they may do to you there. I am a survivalist in the sense that while I would have liked to build a "hobbit house" under a hill, stock it against Armageddon type events, and stay there until I died of boredom, I have no way to finance such a deal. The best we could do is convert an old Ford airport shuttle. We should at least be able to escape a problemated area in a hurry, especially if we see it coming - that is, if the roads are passable. I read a post asking why people are not angry about a thing - well, I am. I am angry about a Lot of things. Health care issues, the tainted food and water supply, dangerous fanaticism, disappearing US freedoms, and yes, even people who don't understand America is a Continent and we live in the U.S. Africa is also a continent and has many different countries in it. Our country going to hell in a hand-basket concerns me greatly, especially our manner of not actually providing our children with true education. Are you aware that the mean IQ of the U.S. has actually gone down? Have you seen the movie "Idiocracy?" They did not intend a documentary, I understand, but it's looking a bit too close to reality in my opinion. I do believe Our country should come first, even though the entire planet, maybe all of humanity, is messed up. Whatever is going on elsewhere may be bad, but if we led by example, I'm certain it would help. I'm the type of person who could go on forever with what's wrong with our systems, but I wont right now. I'm happy to be a part of this group of thinking individuals. I don't care what Party you subscribe to, as I don't belong to either. I think the two party system and the electoral college has screwed us and divided us and while I always vote for what I consider the lesser evil, it makes me angry to even have to make that a choice. I do not subscribe to any organized church, as hypocrisy annoys me very much. I also do not believe that Prayer will fix everything. Non violent action is what is needed. You should probably know I like our dogs more than I do most people. Nice to be here!

Recommendation for affordable oil lantern?
kerosene lanterns burn kerosene (flashpoint around 150 deg F). You want clear, undyed kerosene, which has been road taxed. The dye will clog the wick. They shouldn't be called oil lanterns in my opinion because the clear paraffin oil is not supposed to be used in them (flashpoint is too high >200 deg F).
Kerosene stinks and slowly evaporates from the lantern if not used, but that is the fuel they are supposed to use.
If you want to use a kerosene lantern, read the following for the safety rules.
http://ift.tt/2lrDD8b
The metal tubular Dietz lanterns stink the worst (at least the ones I had). I threw away a bunch of them over the years in the course of moving for work. I still have a dew glass chimney type, but they don't see any use.
If I was actually going to rely on them for light, I would get Alladins. They are over $100 each though. They burn much brighter, since they use a mantle and have a tall chimney for stronger draft. They put out about as much light as a 60 watt Edison bulb.
http://ift.tt/2lwNzN2
Alladins are now made in China, so the quality might be worse now. perhaps used is preferable.
A cheaper mantle lantern is the Coleman outdoor camping type that burns Coleman fuel or propane. Store the mantles unburned as they become very fragile once burned.
For LED lighting, I have 2 of the Ryobi One+ Lithium Battery lanterns that are really excellent and run a very long time on each rechargeable battery.
Also rigged up 2 of the metal emergency lighting devices by replacing the flashlight bulbs with LED bulbs. They automatically turn on when the power goes out, but I only get about 8 hrs run time with the older style lead acid sealed battery it is designed for.
Oil lamps are going the way of the buggy whip I think.

Swatting hoax led to fatal police shooting
Livingston said the department received a call that someone had an argument with their mother, that the father had been shot in the head and the shooter was holding his mother, brother and sister hostage.
“That was the information we were working off of,” he said.
During a police briefing at City Hall on Friday afternoon, Deputy Police Chief Troy Livingston describes the events that led to the fatal shooting of Andrew Finch by a Wichita police officer.
Officers went to the 1000 block of McCormick, preparing for a hostage situation and they “got into position,” he said.
“A male came to the front door,” Livingston said. “As he came to the front door, one of our officers discharged his weapon.”
Livingston didn’t say if the man, who was 28, had a weapon when he came to the door, or what caused the officer to shoot the man. Police don’t think the man fired at officers, but the incident is still under investigation, he said. The man, who has not been identified by police, died at a local hospital.
A family member identified that man who was shot by police as Andrew Finch. One of Finch’s cousins said Finch didn’t play video games.
“This call was little peculiar for us,” Livingston said. “(The call) went to a substation first, then it was relayed to dispatch, then dispatch gave it to us. We have a lot of information to go through.”

Arctic snow day hike DOG encounter...
The next day I decide to bring my mom with haha (shes tough). So we are out there walking around for about an hour and on the way back we are literally maybe 1 klick from the parking lot on the trail. Out of now where an adolescent looking german shep appears. Now I like dogs especially this breed. The trail was somewhat narrow as my mom and i were in single file, her behind me. Im packing a 40 cal in my waistband under 3 layers of clothing (dumb).
Well the dog stops and its staring at me about 10 yards out. I see in the distance behind the dog a guy who seems to be the owner. But my focus is on the dog because he didnt look friendly. So im like "hey puppy" in a friendly toned voice not making direct eye contact but looking in his direction. I was standing stone cold still and my face was covered with a balaclava.
Well the dog growled and barked visciously and made a bluff charge. I remained still and didnt make a move waiting for the hound to close distance. He stopped in his tracks after sprinting about halfway. My adrenaline was going and I was ready and bracing for the attack.
My plan was to fight him off with my boots and well placed kicks to his head and then pick him up by his neck/scruff and toss him off the cliff we were adjacent to. Luckily the dog sensed I wasnt about to turn bitch and then the owner called him back after he noticed. The owner yelled out an apology and said he was distracted by his phone (go figure). Dog had a collar but was off leash. Which I dont know what kind of idiot lets his dog off leash if he knows his dogs not very nice.
It got me thinking because the previous day I saw a few random people out, all solo and 1 of which was a little old lady.
The funny thing about it was I was joking and sent out some messages to my friends saying if im not back by sundown, im wolf food. haha.
Lesson learned, in winter time with heavy clothing its best to maybe wear some kind of vest so you can have a cross draw/chest holster or small slingback that can be positioned to the front. Not only that but wearing heavy gloves would have made it impossible to draw and blast.
And as most of these situations go, it all happened quite fast. Between getting a visual on the dog to him charging me took all of 6 seconds.
The need to have SOMETHING in your hands or quickly available is paramount. Another option I thought of was strapping my GI TANTO blade to my forearm. and lastly I have a pretty sweet hiking stick I picked up which came in handy when I sprained my ankle.
So basically my plan is, knife strapped to forearm, small sling type pouch thats front carry for firearm, and carry a big stick! and be strong/ready for hand to claw combat if it comes down to it.
And he was clearly focused on me, im wondering if my face being covered freaked him out or something as he ignored/disregarded my mom completely (add to the fact i was in front of her too).
I know we came across some horses on a trail before and I had my face obscured and the horse looked pretty dodgy and spooked by my appearance.

To me this is MUCH better than living somewhere/life in a place you don't want due to money.
You may only be living somewhere you want part of the time, but that way your fruit trees etc can grow.
Beats the hell out of living where you don't want and only getting to POSSIBLY live where you want to upon retirement!

HE washers vs conventional washers
I suffered with a Whirlpool Cabrio Platinum for about 3 years leading up to this.
No agitator, took about an hour to run through the cycle, and was very prone to imbalance since the drum is so freaking big and spins at 0.9 times the speed of light.
http://ift.tt/2ChO1K7
I rigged it up so I can use either machine now, reserving the big Cabrio mainly for large bedding loads.
(I was able to jam both drain pipes into the wall drain, and I used Tee fittings to supply the hot and cold water supply to both washers.)
(I believe the HE designation refers to using less water mainly), I am sure the Cabrio uses more power since it runs twice as long.

Most survivalist-convinient eating/drinking habbits?
THe most convinient eating/drinking habbits I could think of would be to skip lunch. Sometimes I think that our ancestors probably wanted to make the absolutely best out of every minute of daytime, so they prepared for daytime by drinking huge amounts of water + breakfast, then they left the safety of their river-bound camp for their adventures, but they didn't carry food, fire-abilities, water etc with them, they just waited with that until they came back to camp with their hunt.
That would actually work quite well with modern day living too, it's quite messy to bring food to work every day, to brush teeth at work, etc, it would be so much more convenient to just wait with all that until I get home to my house.
What do you think? Any other ideas you have or follow regarding making eating/drinking habbits more convenient (and therefore more survivalist)?

How to connect internet safely
It might out-of-place in this forum but still I think It's worth to know how to become anonymous in internet.
When your government decide to start censorship, you can't access some of the site that has information government doesn't want to people know.
So,today we gonna learn about Tails,a linux OS.
Only you need is your PC with two of USB memory stick.
Go to http://ift.tt/RyXrAn
Click Install icon that put on right side.
Then,follow instruction with caution.
Three types of main feature included in tails.
First one is,Anonymity implemented by Tor.
Second is,Encryption.anyone can't access your data without your password.
Last but not least,Anti forensic.so entire data will be deleted when you shutdown your computer but persistent data.
Not only that, this things pre-installed many software.
If you curious about how anonymity works, check this link. http://ift.tt/qUP6zO
One thing is important. when your government really starts censorship, you can't even access Tor network.
So then, you need Bridge or Local proxy.

Will it be 2018?
a) A final rand denominated debt downgrade by Fitch, due in Feb. This will compound the severity of everything else in the country from food to transport to housing.
b) Free tertiary education for first year students. In true backward thinking our "numba won" has decided that a R50bn shortfall is just too small. Where the money will come from to make this happen, who knows. We can count on our red beret wearing freaks to cash in on this one to stoke the revolutionary flames. http://ift.tt/2q144Gr. I see fire, lots of it.
c)EWC. Finally, the ANC shows it's true colours to the rest of the world and simultaneously reveals the EFF/ANC strategy by announcing they will be changing the constitution to allow for expropriation without compensation. Sadly for many libtards and naive pale faces, the penny has still not dropped. Congratulations on your new property purchase, you're about to lose a lot of moola!
d)Western Cape water crisis. With day zero now set at April/May and likely to be moved closer to March after the holidays, this has profound consequences for the whole country. No Water means absolute chaos, like a wet blackout. For me, this is the one that will likely get us doing final checks on our BOB's.
e)State of emergency. I have been of the opinion that a State of Emergency is going to be the final card the Zuptas will be able to play to hold on to power. Their are multiple ignition points that could set this play into motion.
This is Africa, and there is no rush here. We still have some time to refocus our strategies and priorities before things go boom. However, be cautious as time is fast running out, for Zuma, the ANC and the country. Ol Cyril ain't gonna be saving the day, regardless of what libby Liz next door says.
So welcome 2018 by sharpening, reloading and double-checking. It's the right thing to do.
PS: I know many preppers celebrated before the finish line and have backed off on their preparations. Now is the time to raise your guard again.
Will it be 2018?

Useful Web site for food preservation I came across
I did a search using the acronym but didn't see it so I thought I'd post it up here. If it has been talked about my apologies but wouldn't hurt to bump.
That link is to the National Center for home food preservation. I ran across it while looking up some canning information and found it very informative to me at least as I'm trying to move beyond MREs and mountain house cans. It take bit to dig around on but some good stuff there. I even ended up ordering a kids book on food preservation called preserve it &serve it to donate to my kids school library.
Hope it can be of some help to someone else too.

Texas A&M has a page that list good pears, but not sure which one I should go with.
I want something that will make a good canopy, good and reliable producer, and makes a pear that is suitable for eating and canning.
Several years ago my son and I planted two pear trees. they are suppose to be for canning, but I eat them straight off the tree. I do not remember types my son and I planted. We got them from either wal-mart or lowes here in Jasper, Texas.

Putting them above quail IMHO.
A friend of mine was going to do it, and I was going to steal ideas, get birds, and learn from it... but she didn't, and I'm tired of waiting.
Thing is, most modern ones are too small, and the ancient ones are too big.
So I'm trying to figure out how to build it right.
(I think I need 6 breeding pairs to make it worth it. Each need 2 "holes" to lay in. (Male gets stuck watching the first 2, female moves over and lays 2 more.)
I mainly want a stable breeding population requiring minimal inputs in exchange for occasional "free" meals.
So deciding how big to make it, and how to access it for both clean outs and harvesting eggs and squab.
The large ones had ladders inside.
I'm thinking something similar to these:
http://ift.tt/2ljszda:
But designs I find online doesn't address access.
So 6 breeding psirs, probably need 9 to make up for losses.
And holes for young if I decide to "bank them" and do a large meal vs occasional small ones.
I can't make the entry holes big enough for these tasks as they need to be smaller to keep out tresspassers.
I've got metal for the roof, cedar boards to build it from, and galvanized pipe for the legs which should keep coons and such out.
Would just need to pick up some concrete. But the design eludes me.

Rocket Stoves
Hi. I'm new on here. Just found this forum. So I've been into the survival and off the grid lifestyles for a while. Since I'm a welder/fabricator I got into building rocket stoves. I think they're awesome because they generate so much heat with little fuel. I wanted to know what kind of rocket stoves people like the best. I was thinking of building a bunch of different stoves and trying to sell them or taking custom orders on stuff of thst sort. Each one would be a handmade unique stove and built to last forever. Is this a worthwhile idea?

It is larger than 550 (about 1/4 inch, with a similar sheath, but has 14 two strand cords inside.
I haven't seen much information on this 1100 cord, but it looks like a very useful item. Does anyone else have any experience with it or information on it?

Bio/Chem - whatcha got in your kits?
But, how does the knowledge that the NORKs have bio and chem weapons, and that apparently their defectors (at least 1) have shown antibodies, or exposure, to anthrax, change your plans WRT to NBC? Are you paying more attention to the BioChem part of the picture, and what do you have in your ready kits?
I have Avon FM12 masks for the 4 of us, along with 2X refills on the purple NBC filters. I have a single NBC camelback for water, and am working on getting the other 3. I have zero suits, but we do have plastic sheeting, lots of duct tape, and some bug-in processes/checklists. Obviously, we have a good supply of LT food. I haven't thought enough about decontamination gear or processes. This is getting bumped up my priority list though and I'd appreciate your perspectives.
We plan to bug in for just about everything, but I may need to hustle to go get 2 kids at school and back. Enough fuel to pretty much go anywhere west of the Mississippi we wanted, if needed. We are ~ 30 miles from the central/northern CA coast.

Does anyone know anything about growing white sage in the south, particularly southern Louisiana? I would like to start growing some for smudging, but it's a desert plant and I don't wanna waste my time, if it's just going to die.

Good day at the Gun Shop
We arrived and exchanged pleasantries with the guy behind the counter (he didn’t know us- new guy) and on asking what he could do for us my friend produced his deposit papers etc. and the guy said, “OK it’ll be through the back I’ll go and find it,” and off he went.
So then we headed off to the gun racks to browse. Immediately I was attracted to and picked up a .300 Win. Mag and as I was looking at it I saw my buddy shouldering a gun off to the side and then the next thing he wasn’t there, I looked around and he was stood at the counter with a gun placed on the counter in front of him.
So I went over and there on the counter was a Marlin CB, 45/70, multi layered laminate stock in greyish to dark brown with a lovely smoky stainless barrel and action.
I looked at him and he stated “I’m having it”.
I said, “we haven’t even been in here two minutes and you’ve already bought another gun”?
“Yep I ain’t letting anyone else get the chance of this, it’s mine”!
The guy then appears with the Scout plus suppressor and couldn’t believe there was another sale in less than 2 mins.
So after the paperwork was done for the Scout a deposit was placed on the Marlin and due paperwork done.
Then he placed an order for a 20 round magazine for the Scout and also bought some more 308 ammo.
My buddy then spotted a 2nd hand Nightforce scope at a very good price and snapped that up too.
By now every salesman in the shop were there with us and I checked out some reloading gear and got some good advice on what to get, no, not the expensive multi -turret systems, the guy dealing with me said to go for a single turret Lee press and go from there and rather than let me buy the gear there and then he said he’d check out some details on the loads and best powder etc. for the ammo I was going to load (270 to start with for my favourite gun – my Tikka T3) from one of his friends who is a whizz on the 270 loads.
He also “gave” me 100 bullet heads in advance for free and said to come back in a couple of weeks to see what his friend advised. (I’ve reloaded shotgun before but never centrefire).
Any way after 4 hours in the shop and much banter (plus me nearly placing an order for the same Marlin,….. I’ll think on it – (Boss man owner of the shop, an old friend of ours said he could get me one quick if I wanted).
It was then back to my buddy’s farm, out onto the farm range in the dark which we lit up with powerful lamps.
I got to sight it in (it’s always me as I can work out MOA and ‘dope a scope etc) and had them group in a 2” bull at 100 yards after 8 shots.
Oh and by the way the suppressor on the Scout fits over the barrel and is threaded about 2/3rds of the way up it and surprisingly doesn’t alter the feel or balance of the gun much at all.
Lovely trigger pull, well balanced and very easy to use. Doesn’t need a bipod on it like some of our rifles. I’m extremely impressed with it.
My buddy rang me today to say that he had been to the County Police Firearms Department this morning (not far away) all the paperwork had been given in and as they were short staffed with the Xmas holiday period they couldn’t process the details today for the Marlin there and then, but would have it done priority next week. So probably next weekend it will be back for the Marlin (and whatever else)!
Good day indeed.

Redundant heat sources
We have young neighbors who have been into prepping for a while now. They have multiples of firearms and extensive amounts of ammunition. They have a good amount of food & water put back and a quite a bit of precious metals.
I can't seem to convince them though, that a secondary heat source should be an important addition to their preps.
This may not be as important to people in some southern areas of the country but I feel it's very important for those of us in norther climates.
They have small children so I'm not giving up.

I am highly considering an AK from PSA. Anyone have any good or bad experiences with them? It will be the second generation. I guy at my range had one and let me shoot 40 rounds in it. I know that's not a whole lot but I loved it. Just seeing if anyone can help tip me over the edge into the AK world

Personally, I’d head for the highlands of Scotland* or the highest areas of the Nordic countries.
The only areas I’ve yet to travel to is South America, Russia, western & Southern Africa & Australia but they’re on my to do list.

Hi All, Newbie In Los Angeles.
I just joined. My wife and I are more "Preppers" than Survivalists as we plan on bugging in if possible in a SHTF scenario. We are stuck in Los Angeles and wondering if there are other members around L.A. Been seriously prepping for over a year. Interests include: Guns & Ammo, BOB's, Bug Out Vehicles, Food Storage & MRE's., Best way out of city of L.A.? We have an electric scooter/bike with a 40 mile range per charge (it can carry us both & our BOB). Believe our car would be stuck in gridlock. Any ideas?

Everything takes a minimum of 4 less hours to dehydrate than it does when its not freezing. Rice is about 6 hours quicker!

Suppressor for Hunting Rifle
The gun I'm thinking of mounting it to is a TC Contender Carbine. I have both a 22 LR, and a 30-30 win barrel for this gun, both were originally 21" long, but I have already shortened them to 18.5". I own a Gunsmithing lathe, so cutting threads to mount it is not a real problem.
My objective would be to have a short range rifle suited for shooting cast lead bullets. I would keep this gun legal so I can use it during non crisis times. I live in a class 3 state, so unless congress changes the laws, and I would be filling out paperwork and waiting.
My question, can someone suggest a suppressor suited for 22 LR and 30-30 win.
What's the cost, and the average waiting period?

Food Storage Mac 'N Cheese from WSU/Puck canned cheeses.
http://ift.tt/2Dh0ARX
Can WSU Cougar Gold/Cheddar cheese
Can WSU Viking Hot Pepper/Crimson Fire cheese
http://ift.tt/2C7t7Kz
1 lb elbow macaroni (preferably whole-grain)
3 T Butter (Red Feather canned)
2 T Flour (preferably white whole-wheat)
3 c Milk (whole milk made from nonfat milk powder and butter)
Seasoning: any or all of salt, pepper, paprika, onion, mustard to taste and optional ground annatto if you want it orange, or just use 1 packet Sazon seasoning with/without annatto.
Make a white sauce by lightly browning 2 T flour in 3 T butter and slowly whisking in 3 c milk. Stir in an 8-oz jar of Puck cream cheese until melted. Season to taste (see above). Pour over cooked macaroni and stir just to combine. Mix in 8-oz shredded Cougar Gold and 8 oz shredded Viking Hot Pepper cheese (or canned WSU cheese combo of your choice). Put in greased 9x13 casserole. Top with breadcrumbs if desired, 1/2 c tossed with 1 T melted butter, and bake at 350ºF for 20 minutes.
Now you've opened the cans, you will naturally have to eat the rest of the WSU cheeses that you didn't use for this. It's a terrible job, but someone has to do it.
(You can, of course, also make this with an 8-oz package of supermarket cream cheese, 8 oz shredded extra-sharp cheddar, and 8 oz shredded Pepper Jack.)
Sliced chorizo is a nice optional addition to this. Add a side of canned diced tomatoes with lots of added freeze-dried/dehydrated green peppers, onions, and corn and call it dinner.

Designed for long-range use with enhanced low-light capabilities, the Hawke Sport Optics 4-16x50 Endurance 30 SF Riflescope boasts a powerful zoom range and a side parallax turret with an adjustment range from 10 yards out to infinity. Its partially-illuminated duplex crosshair reticle is calibrated for use with powerful .30 caliber rounds with the outer posts and center hairs glass-etched to resist fading and shifting. In the center of the reticle is a simple 1.25 MOA red dot for precise shot placement and a stepless rheostat gives users absolute output control and optimal red dot brightness in all lighting conditions. This Endurance is designed with a long eye relief (LER) to give users ample recoil room when using magnum-caliber rifles.
Versus smaller objective scopes, the Hawke Endurance's 50mm objective and 16-layer anti-reflection, fully multi-coated optics draws in generous amounts of light. It provides you with bright and clear, high-contrast images during the pre-dawn and post-dusk hours when many game animals are most active, even if you have to stalk your prey through heavily canopied areas during those periods. A fast-focus collar, rubber-coated zoom ring, and knurled rheostat control allow you to quickly adapt to rapidly changing situations. Complementing the performance of the scope is a lightweight and durable anodized aluminum housing, with a robust 30mm one-piece maintube that is nitrogen-filled and O-ring sealed to be water and fogproof. To get the most out of the scopes long-range use, a 4" screw-on sun shade is included to reduce glare and increase image quality and a 1.5" removable side adjustment wheel can be installed on the turret for precise adjustments even when wearing gloves.

Which healing crystals to stockpile for SHTF?
I heard a friend of a friend who is a volunteer firefighter say that he asked a firefighter if they ever find healing crystals in burnt down buildings and he said no! just think about the implications of this revelation for a while! in all his years as a firefighter there was a 100% correlation that burnt down houses never had healing crystals, could it be that the houses who "rocks" (pun intended) protective healing crystals are somehow shielded from bad events?

There were several request for Iraqveteran8888 to test the higher end PSA uppers made with the cold hammer forged (CHF) FN barrels.
While the brand name is Palmetto State Armory, the barrel is made by Fabrique Nationale d'Herstal, aka FN. These hammer forged barrels are marketed as "machine gun steel" and are supposed to be more durable and stronger than non-hammer forged AR-15 barrels.

Would there be local gun stores if there were no Gun Control Act of 1968
If there were no Gun Control Act of 1968, GCA , would there be any local gun stores / FFL dealers at all any more?
That is if firearms could be directly shipped to lowly peasants such as our selves with no need of an intermediary to shuffle some papers and collect a fee as is the current practice.
The question would be where could one try new firearms? Would gun shows be on the increase with manufacturers having regional sales teams that would attend shows and such? More manbe small private concerns would do this ...

marlin Model 336W 30-30
I notice the marlin 336 'W' seems to be one of the most affordable on the market( here at least) and coming in couple hundred dollars cheaper than Marlins other 336's. Also the shorter 20" barrel I am assuming that's not going to hurt 30-30 performance too much..
Thanks for any opinions on this gun.

My apologies if this has been covered already. I did a search but Tapatalk sucks at searches.
Anyway I just came across this documentary tonight, naturally just before I planned on going to bed...but I had to stay up to watch it.
After seeing the trailer for this movie I couldn't wait for it to be made and released. Like I'm sure a lot of people were I was shocked when I found out Crowley and his family were found dead in their home. My conspiracy theory wheels really got turning.
After watching this footage of interviews with friends, family and coworkers it seems like he and his wife may have just gone over the edge together....but still I wonder.
What a tragedy, though. Beautiful family with a potentially bright future....suddenly dead.
Gray State would have been a kickass movie.
