How to clean new barrels for fuel

Rinse it out with just water. Rinse good, then use a broom stick with a rag taped to the end to dry up any remaining drops of water inside. That usually gets 98% of it out.

I will then put a hair dryer in one hole (on cold so no heat), and let it blow into the drum and out the other bung hole for a couple hours. This will evaporate any remaining water the rag missed.

In truth, I use the plastic drums for a lot of things so I have a special small squirrel cage fan I use, but a hair dryer will work fine.
