Orthodox Interest in ML

Sure, Luther ("a Second Arius", as per Romanian Elder Cleopa, from your quoted article) can be an opening point in a discussion between Orthodox and Protestants since it shows some of the problems that Catholic Church brought with their novelties and subsequential errors after they split from Orthodox.

But freedom in faith was always available to all Orthodox Christians. What the Patriarch want to engage is Protestantism and to show that Orthodoxy does not negate most of the principle tenets of what Luther brought.

HOWEVER, the devil is hidden in details. Orthodoxy will never take something from Protestantism because it is in need of nothing dogmatically. It might bring and open Protestantism to the Sacraments and the Tradition though with serious discussion on what these two tenets of Orthodoxy truly mean.
