Both the Old Testament and New Testament are thus profitable and are from God as in the verse above. Jesus Christ is called the "Word" and is God. All three persons of God were involved in the Word Of God being written down.
I am glad that at least three on this forum consider the Old and New Testament as the Word of God.
Much of the New Testament Epistles and even the Gospels contain a lot of Old Testament Quotes. Sometimes the Greek words translated from the Hebrew and into English change a little just as Eddie T said. This doesn't necessarily change the meaning of the NT verse as opposed to the OT verse. But one needs to study the Word to discern the true meanings. 2Ti_2:15* Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth.
Word studies should include both the Hebrew and the Greek and remember the King James Bible was translated into 1611 English and later revised some what in 1769. Some of the words mean different things that they mean today such as "quicken". Go look it up.
