IL: Jan 23 Senate Bill 107 Assault Weapons Ban

I'm cross posting this from the IL section of the forum so it gets some more visibility. On the 23rd, a bill banning assault weapons was filed in the Illinois state Senate. As near as I can tell, it's a word for word copy of the Highland Park ban that the Supreme Court refused to review back in 2015. It does have a provision for existing weapons to be grandfathered in, but they can never be sold. The way it's written, all semiautomatic rifles with detachable magazines will be banned.

With a Democratic supermajority in both houses of the state legislature and a Democratic governor, I don't know if it can be stopped.
