PSA AR15 Pistol question

Not sure anybody here can answer this question but I’ll try. I bought a PSA AR15 pistol 7� barrel that comes with something called an M-LOK handguard.

It’s metal. It’s rough. It kinda hurts at times LOL. But my question is I cannot figure out for the life of me WHY only the top rail is Picatinny and the sides and bottom are not? Perfect for mounting flashlights and other little accessories like lasers and such.

Anyway I have searched the PSA website and I guess I can call, but I’m looking to replace just the bottom piece or any piece that does have the rail.

Or maybe a recommendation for a entirely different type that will fit this because it appears to be a bit of a specialty item as it’s only made for the 7 inch barrel.
