Snowshoes and rawhide.

I am planning to build a pair of snow shoes this winter for making maple syrup. I intend to make them as traditional as possible.(sinew, wood frames and rawhide lacing.) Yesterday I processed two deer hides and have them stretched and drying, I also have the sinew drying.

Does anyone have any suggestions for what design or pattern would work best in the woods with little brush and usually with wet snow? I weigh about 170 and will be carrying 80 pounds of sap when using them if that helps in making a suggestion.

I am thinking something of this style https://www.snowshoemag.com/wp-conte...s/100_3767.jpg
the pointed tips are supposed to allow it to push through brush better than a rounded tip.

Also what other good uses are there for the extra and scrap rawhide I will end up with when they are done?
