Our isolated - relatively defensible - sustainable BOL refuge will house around 20 adults, a few children & about everybody has a watch, 2 or 3. Over a few years I outfitted everyone in our family with a new military style Seiko 5 automatic, simply because they are high quality, relatively inexpensive & self winding (no battery involved).

Even so, everyone has other watches, Seiko kinetics, Solar, G-shocks etc. So, over time, I took inventory of most & acquired spare long life batteries for them. The object being to DIY change metal links, open replace batteries & clean as needed.
