The fool on the hill...a bol

I bought a place that has a south facing slope. Facing south is what you want. Then the earth sheltered house works best. Also snow will melt away faster. But you don't want too much slope, you need close to level areas to garden, otherwise your soil just keeps moving downhill.

You should also have the top of the hill. Otherwise whoever owns the highest ground within rifle range will be able to kill or drive you out.
