next was the ss, 50 rounds each of 22wmr hornady 30gr and winchester 45gr. the hornady was cleaner and more accurate: 3" groups at 50', 2" at 20'. i was hoping for better from the winchester, it was 2" more open, as the heavier bullet makes for a better defense round.
i took out some untried geco 22lr rifle ammo to try in the ss. this geco was all i could get at one point and this indoor range doesnt allow long guns. sadly the geco wouldn't seat in the ss' 22lr cylinder, it seemed too waxy. so i tried it in the sr22. except for some second shot ftf, the sr22 ate all 150 rds, but it wasnt particularly accurate: 3" at 20' and 5" at 50'. needless to say i wont be getting more geco. my ss has never had trouble with other 22lr. i decided to burn up the geco and ran out of time before i could try some other 22lr i brought.
though it was an abbreviated, hurried session, i came away loving my rugers, as always. the bh is the heavy artillery. the ss is the utility piece. the sr22 is the energizer bunny plinker. im getting to a point in my life where i should be downsizing but i cant let these pieces go.
