The Decoupling of the Asset Class from the Liability Class

I have long believed that we are heading into a "war" of sorts, which will erupt along these two lines:

1) The "Asset" class. Literally, people who produce more value than they are paid. Primary and secondary producers, entrepreneurs and capable managers/executives, skilled and some unskilled tradesmen, hobby farmers, and people who seek self-sufficiency and value traditional skills. Basically, people who can or do produce the value they receive.

2) The "Liability" class. Literally, people whose existence is a resource drain on others. Obviously, long-term welfare dependants are on the list, many because their reliance on "the system" is unconscionable, but also many other demographics. Employees, and even executives, of companies whose survival depends on the government trough, not just through bailouts, but through government purchasing, even though many can and do work long hours. Government employees, whose work, some of which is vital, is wholly consumptive, not productive. And, of course, those who work, but whose wages need to be supplemented by various government programs like foodstamps or subsidized housing.

The less and less efficient the second group becomes (and the larger and larger it becomes), the less and less able the first group is to produce the value necessary to sustain it. We are approaching the point where many in the first group are seriously contemplating how to keep the second from eating all of their produce.

My greatest concern is that neither group seems to understand the absolute reliance that the second group has on the first. If push came to shove, be it through noncompliance or worse, it is the first group who holds the stronger hand. This should scare the pants off of our elected officials. The "Asset" class is what makes the "Liability" class, themselves included, possible, and our shrinking number and aching backs can't carry their stupidity much longer.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
