Thoughts On Genetic Cancer Testing

I've been wondering about this for years, the pros and cons but I guess my worrying about it finally took over.

Just wondering if anyone has had it done and if it changed anything healthwise for you?

Cancer runs on both sides of my family bad.

Dads side.

My dad, Colon cancer, He died back in 02.
2 of his brothers, 1 prostate, he's still alive so far. the other stomach which spread to colon and lungs passed a few years ago.

The brother with prostate cancer had a son, my first cousin who was diagnosed with brain stem cancer at the age of 28, he died at 30.

i have 2 more first cousins who are brothers, 1 had pancreatic cancer, he has passed, the other with Kidney, he is still alive so far.

Then I have 5 first cousins female that had breast cancer. Only 1 still alive.

My dad's mother's sister, my great aunt died of lung cancer.

2 great uncle's who were brothers, My grandfather's brothers who had Myeloma and stomach.

I'm not counting second or 3rd cousins

Moms Side.

4 of her brothers and her only sister. Of Brain, lung, stomach and Colon. Her only sister, esophageal cancer.

Her dad, my grandfather, stomach, 3 of his sisters, my great aunts, Mandible which spread to her brain and Lungs, Lungs and the other 1 Colon.

4 first cousins female with breast cancer. Lost the last one 2 months ago.

I am the only 1 of all of these to get Ovarian. Had to remove an 11 lb ovarian tumor. Thankfully didn't have to have chemo or radiation because it was caught early. 10 months later so far so good.

I had a checkup yesterday and they brought the subject up due to the family history. Since they needed blood to see if any of my markers had changed I agreed to it.
