My family is not on board what so ever with the preparedness thing. At one time I wanted to shut down all the utilities for a week and go strictly from preps. They were not having it...

If you have the means to replace your stuff I say go for it! If you want to really push the envelope and are able to, go without utilities and running water for a bit.
