My "free" retirement account/peak oil prep- natural and other resources

This is my plan I thought I would share with anyone who can use it..
Background:
I'm in my mid 20s and have 12 acres of potentially farm-able land, a truck and live in a rural/suburban area of mixed demographics.... Used to do the scrap metal game back when gas was high and metals were high.. Now scrap metal is really low and I see much more metal available than before. So I pick up some metal when I see it on trash days, but have found more money in things that aren't scrap but just unwanted or needing light repairs, paint, etc.. But that leads me to the other things I see everywhere, just going to waste..
Plastics.
Bottles, containers, film, sheets, everything and anything plastic..
Ok so you're thinking, how is this worth money? Well you probably know that plastic is made with natural gas and oil. This oil can be extracted from the plastic with pyrolysis or recycled.. Right now gas is cheap, oil is cheap, plastic is cheap, paid to remove in recycling programs and sent overseas to be reprocessed for low profits... But if you look out 10, 15 years, who knows what will happen to the oil price and this plastic based economy? Natural gas reserves may only last 40-50 years if heavily exported..
. We may get sick of having plastic litter everywhere and have a real scrapyard type setup where plastic is purchased by the pound.. or, as a prepper, you could set up a simple still and reprocess your plastic stash into a crude oil to heat the house, run machinery or a diesel truck..

Dirt.
My other resource I am collecting for free is organic waste, basically anything compostable and involved with soil.. I had the power line cutters dump about ten ton of wood chips back in the spring. They were happy to get rid of them. I pick up wood along the road in any condition.. Even if you have firewood guys to compete with, rotting wood is pretty easy to come by.. Any kitchen and yard scraps are all kept in a pile and turn into beautiful black soil the next year..
So how will this be worth money?
Anything plant or animal based contains valuable nutrients.. these nutrients are taken from soil when crops are removed.. arable soil is eroding quickly because of how we mismanage these resources.. organic waste is buried in landfills instead of returning to the fields as would happen in nature.. Petroleum based fertilizers are expensive and have their own set of problems..
I am able to grow a garden without buying fertilizer because of using compost.. the plan is to build up the soil as deep as possible and improve the land for when farm land is at a premium.. and the garden pays "dividends" every year in produce.. Worm farming is another option for composting that has real cash potential right now.. Bones are actually already quite valuable at $1.00/pound for bone meal, a source of phosphorus and calcium..

If you are unable to put away money every month after the bills or don't think cash will be worth anything 20 years from now, another unconventional option for savings may be in the things we use and throw away.. Even if the dollar value is low now, these resources are not infinite and will have a better market in the future while also working against inflation.
