I would seriously suggest reading, to the new person and to you also. There are a lot of resources here and a lot of lists. There are also a lot of aspects to prepping. It would be difficult to summarize over 8 million posts...

Perhaps if you had a more direct question on what you are trying to accomplish, someone could help you more.
