Would I really need a portable solar generator?

Been looking at a 350w solar generator that folds into a briefcase, panels and all. Then I got to thinking: besides charging phones, what would I even need this for? I doubt I'll be carrying a coffee maker or anything if we need to bug out, so would it even be worth it to have this? Oh, and it weighs 24 pounds...

The only useful purpose I could see it serving would be as a backup power source at the house should we lose electricity for an extended period, but even then, it's only 350 watts. What could we realistically use it for? If I'm spending $600+ for this, should I just save my money and go all out on a full system for the house? The only problem there is that we currently rent, and we're looking to buy our own place and move in 6 months to a year, so I'd have to bring it with us somehow.

What do you guys think? Is this briefcase thing something worth having?
