A Preference for 'Classic' Firearm Designs for Self Defense...

Definition of Classic: judged over a period of time to be of the highest quality and outstanding of its kind.

Purpose: I am watching a thread about a young man entering the police academy become derailed over a discussion about revolvers.

Example: your currently issued firearms (Glock, Beretta M-9, AR-15/M-4/M-16) would most definitely NOT be considered classic, they are current issue. What would also NOT be considered classic are your Ruger LCRs, composite stock/stainless steel bolt guns and shotguns....

So let's put the definition of 'classic' firearms from the advent of the brass cartridge to the late 1970s. Firearms that emulate these designs (a 1980s manufactured Model 10 for example, is fair game. As are all iterations of the 1911)

Question: Does anyone here have a distinct preference for 'classic' firearms for self defense/SHTF? Does anyone disagree that these are viable weapons, and feel that modern firearms are the only way to go?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
