Participating in a nuclear power station disaster/comms exercise

About a month ago I volunteered with my county ARES group to participate in nuclear power station disaster/comms exercise that takes place next week.

Ive never been a part of a large scale exercise so I wanted to jump right in and experience a legitimate drill.

Our county has a handful of impacted townships that are within the plants 10 mile primary Emergency Planning Zone (EPZ ). Luckily I live within the EPZ in one of those townships...and yes that was sarcastic.

We are manning each of the townships EOC's for emergency comms between the impacted townships and the county EOC. The county maintains a stand alone ARES/RACES repeater and it will be utilized for the exercise.

Im new to ARES/RACES so this will be (hopefully) a fun and learning experience.

Has any other ARES/RACES member participated in a large scale drill and if so how was your experience?

Let's block ads! (Why?)
