Strange fibers growing out of my desk

What do the fibers look like? Probably a fungus of some type. Fibrous fungi growing on wood sends up red flags for me if they are white, flat and stringy or if it has an orangish colored bulbish body to it. I immediately think poria incrassata.

If that is it, burn it. Burn the chair you sit in next to it. Burn anything in contact with it. Bad juju.
