"Zombies" has taken on a new lexicon meaning in the prepper vocabulary.

Where it originally is a word of West African origin, referring to a creature in animistic native religion (voodoo).

Now it's become a description of a drug addicted and/or mentally disturbed individual, that can become a threat in the event of societal breakdown.

Another word "Norks" has also had a similar semantic shift. Originally it was a group of marauders in a 1980's B movie "She". Now it refers to North Koreans.

Semantics (the study of words and their meanings) and philology (the study of language and word origins) can be a fascinating subject.

I've just had my "geek" moment for today!
