Redefining Patriotism for the 4th of July

I saw an ad on TV this morning about patriotism, staring John Cena, and was confused at first. Then of course realized it's TV and an Ad by an actor who's paid by someone that's attempting to redefine words to make real Patriotism seem bad.

Patriotism's basic definition is, "devoted love, support, and defense of one's country; national loyalty." Note too, that in the US it would include not only the country but the US constitution.

In this commercial

Patriotism = love of every different type of person.

So when you're waving your flag on the 4th of July, attending a parade, saluting the military, celebrating our freedom won from a monarchy, celebrating the development of our constitutional republic, and lighting off fireworks, just remember ..... you're doing it wrong. It's really all about loving other people who are different; regardless whether they support the country or are even citizens of it.

Personally, I'll be celebrating the birth of the nation with other like minded people. Don't care what color or what they are as long as they are Americans celebrating America and not using yet another holiday to try and drive a wedge between us.

Let's block ads! (Why?)
