Even for backpacking/hiking there are much better options out there. It's just a heavy system for what it does. As Hardcalibres says, a canister doesn't last long, so on most trips you might want to take 2 since one will generally not be completely empty, but still have some boils in it. It's just hard to find out howmany boils. This is also a problem with other gas stoves, but you can get more burn time out of the other ones imo. I switched to an alcohol stove though. Light, cheap and easy. Just not great when you want to actually cook stuff. I'd consider something like the MSR Pocket rocket (or Whisperlite if i'd actually go for higher altitude/colder trips, but that's not needed in my region). Hell, there are some great tiny titanium stoves out there too, which work great which would be my primary choice if i'd go for a gas stove.
Jetboil?
