The fallacy of the US being invaded

It's one of the perennial thread topics of SB. Mostly by newcomers and those who forgot remove the tinfoil before it oxidized.

Will the US be invaded?

We explain why it can't happen in a million ways, including all the guns we have. The explanation never seems good enough for some.

Perhaps a bit of raw numbers will drive the point home.

The entire gun count by the largest 6 militaries are:
Russia – 30,272,900
China – 27,466,400
North Korea – 8,363,100
US – 4,535,380
India – 3,900,000
Iran – 3,333,550

The entire gun count of the nations with the most held by police:
Russia – 2,432,000
China – 1,971,000
India – 1,700,000
Egypt – 1,530,000
USA – 1,016,000

Add all of 11 those together and that's 85,520,330 guns compared to the conservative estimate of 400 million guns held by US private citizenry. A greater than 4 to one advantage if everyone piled on.

There is an estimated 857 million guns in the world. The US citizenry basically owns half of them. To have parity of small arms firepower the would would need to take every last gun in the world that isn't in US private citizen hands to match us.

Half of all small arms in the world. No asterisks, footnotes, or caveats. Think about it a bit.

What about all those tanks and bombs and planes? Any soldier will tell you that in war it boils down to a guy standing on a spot of ground with his rifle to truly control that ground. We Marines still joke that the Army comes in after us to hold the ground we had just won. The ugly flipside of that is the much less numerous Marines don't have enough men with guns to hold the ground long enough to change it from a battle won to being a war won. Jarheads could rampage through and would have to go back and do it again next week once we left a vacuum of power. That's a lot of running......

Military and government planners in all nations, including DC, just look at the 400+ million gun number and shrug at the politicos berating them for not telling them how to face that kind of number. They don't have a good answer for that, except WMD's.

Why invade if you are just going to nuke it from orbit?

Where am I getting my numbers? https://www.thefirearmblog.com/blog/...w-enforcement/
