I got an 80% AR 10 or AR 308 or whatever name you want, it's like an AR-15, only bigger & can shoot bigger calibers!
I put 2 AR 15 lowers next to it for comparison. The lower on the top is a billet lower & the one on the bottom is a regular forged lower. I put the point of the pivot pin tabs on the same vertical line, then have the top edge of each receiver running along its own parallel line to make it a bit easier to compare the size. Two biggest things I've noticed about getting parts for an AR-10 build is that the lack of a mil-spec base to work from makes getting the right parts a PITA. Not to mention, several companies will say their parts are Mil-spec, but milspec to what military, who knows!
The other thing is the parts are WAY more expensive. I imagine it's in part due to the lack of a milspec standard, but also that the AR-10 isn't probably selling as much as the AR-15 so, not as much volume to work with. I also think, at least in some cases, they probably think if the person is making an AR-10 they probably have lots of $, so we'll gladly hike up the prices to match that. I certainly ain't rich & this one will be built on the installment program too.
