just wondering what you guys prefer out of these two options?.. the axe for the same overall weight puts much more of its weight behind the striking surface, and so its more efficient at chopping and the wedge shape makes it more efficient with splitting.. but a large chopper or machete, if made right, does an okay job, and you generally don't have to worry about a head coming loose or a handle breaking, so it may be the more rugged option
if i had to pick one, i'd pick an axe/hatchet in the 1.75-2.25lb head range, but id like to hear some other thoughts?
