USDA Zone 6. Humid climate with ample rainfall. Possible microclimate to Zone 7. Hugel mound of loam and compost on a wastewood and stone understructure about 3' tall, atop a clay-loam soil with an 18" water table. Largely southwest facing riparian slope as understory to chestnut, possibly walnut if hedge is juglone tolerant. Used also to prevent erosion. To be underplayed with medicinal and culinary herbs and watercress in the brook below. PH neutral soil, though could be allowed to lapse mildly acidic.
