35 years later, are we any closer to nuclear war, have we forgotten of the risk?

With the end of SALTII and other nuclear arms limitation treaties,

is the public really aware of the risks of nuclear war?

Is it back to 1984? Do we care anymore with the world set to end due to climate change anyway?
