Transcript of Donald Trump interview - from 1990

In 1990, a 43-year-old Donald Trump gave a lengthy interview to Playboy magazine. For those of us (like me) who were around then, it's fascinating to see how his words reflect the world of that time. He mentions the Soviet Union and Mikhail Gorbachev; he mentions Japan (who was buying real estate in the US not unlike wealthy Chinese do now); he mentions the US auto industry; he mentions President George H.W. Bush.

Regardless of whether you will vote for Trump, this article sheds much light on what makes this man tick. After reading it, I conclude that a considerable part of what he speaks on the campaign trail was already on his mind a quarter of a century ago.
