World's 50 best foods

So back in 2011 CNN tried to make a list of the 50 best tasting foods in the world.

And it seems they were literally snowed in by the response. So they took to revising it a few months later.

Many of the foodies here try to preach that learning to cook globally is how you take a limited supply of storage foods and create a lot more tastes. This cuts down monotony and will also teach techniques to get even more nutrition from food.

I figure these list should inspire some of you to try something new.

The final winner, Rendang of Indonesia, came about trying to preserve large amounts of meat in the tropics before refrigeration was available. Made the traditional way you can let it dry and will be safe to eat for several weeks just sitting on the counter. Always high on any "best foods list" is sushi, which is yet another derivative of trying to preserve fish for the long haul into the mountains on foot in a land where salt is too scarce. The various fried rice dishes from around the world come from making use of last night's leftover rice to become today's main meal. Many of these ethnic foods stem from efforts to deal with the lack of modern safe storage methods. So learning to cook globally will add to your ability to make precious food last longer.
