Well, the 1986 SOPA Act states that you can travel through stricter gun states as long as you don't stop on the way or keep it to a minimum (like gas and rest stops).

However given the AWB of 1989 and all the other progressive BS I'd mull it over. If you do choose to chance it keep the AR cased, unloaded and locked in the trunk / storage container along with all your other guns.

CHiPs are 'ok' about the AWB unofficially for those grandfathered and are residents, or at least used to be last I heard. With you being an Out Of State guy it may be putting you on the radar a bit.
