mini bike/motor cycle/dirt bike survivalist transportation

Never really thought about end of the world transportation, until recently. My thought process is that a scooter/mini bike/motor cycle/dirt bike will use less gas and be more mobile to get around. I know absolutely nothing about this segment.

What kind of options are there? Budget could be as high as $2500, maybe a bit more. Bonus points for easy to fix and light weight, and perhaps ability to carry some stuff.

Idea is that I keep it maintained, in running condition in the garage and take it out for a ride once or twice a month, until I NEED it.
