3 used "Reveille" Coffee Cans from work
3 coat hangers from base alterations shop
1 drill with bits
Small bag of Kingsford "match light" charcoal (sticks work in SHTF situations)
I left the bottom in and will put a handle on it by using another coat hanger. That way you can put the coat hanger pieces and some charcoal/sticks/matches/lighter inside, cover with the plastic lid that came with it and carry it all with you if need be.
I wanted to go for the "nice" factor by using drill, but an old "church key" can opener for the top and bottom holes would work and an awl to punch the coat hanger holes. So if you had to...the only two things you would need is a can opener and a multitool.
Bottom line: Haven't had to chance to use as a "stove" yet but the grill part works great! Will try smoker next weekend and provide results.
When I put it together, kept thinking this looks like the old "Kerplunk" game. LOL
