5Cs (i no specific order.)
1. Container/Canteen
2. Cutting tool
3. Combustion tool
4. Cover
5. Cordage
I started with these 5 but later traded the knife for a neck knife to make it fit.
The Knife I ended up going with.
Turned it into a neck knife using the jute twine and steel wire
Used for cover, so many threads on this I shouldn't need to explain.
Wound tight for fitting in bottle.
Jute twine makes a decent cordage and can double for fire starting.
So I bought a couple other things and thought I'd show some stuff I did.
Simple Laundry bag this thing is cheap won't handle a lot of weight but it works for what I got.
Took some jute twine and made a backpack
Won't be comfortable but will work.
Use the packaging as a sheath.
Cut away the plastic and put a tie on it.
So this is just some stuff I did today. It was cheap stuff something I can throw under the car seat if I really wanted. You can use the dollar store for a lot of stuff. I wouldn't trust either of those knives with my life but I'd rather have one of them than nothing. People starting out can start with something like this if they really want, but I'd suggest some better stuff, but when all you can afford is $5 it's a start. I do want to take that big knife and see what it will do to some wood and I want to take the drop cloth and make a tent, maybe a poncho do some vids, so many options out there. Just make sure you know when you get this stuff you use it and know it's limitations. A $1 knife might last forever and might do it all, or it might break the first time you use it. But a lot of the stuff, like bandannas, water bottles and cordage you can get on the cheap.
