My real name is Chad and I wanted to create a hiking journal here so that I can document my journey from a beginner into an eventually skilled climber. This will be something where I share my thoughts and experiences for not only myself but also for others who are on the same journey as me. I am somebody who absolutely loves keeping journals because it is a way to look back and see how far along you've come as you move forward in your life. One of my favorite sayings is, "if your life is worth living, it is worth recording."
Back in August of 2013, when I was still living in Pennsylvania, my health took a turn for the worse as I was diagnosed with Lyme Disease. Although I was treated with antibiotics, most of my symptoms have persisted ever since. I don't want to put much focus into that as I am treating myself with long term techniques that will eventually bring me back to being fully healthy. Part of that includes more physical exercise, or - HIKING! Not only is summiting a 14er rewarding, it is a great metaphor for overcoming your limitations. But, enough about that!
So far, I have done 8 fourteeners and hundreds of other hikes around Colorado. I am on a personal journey to hike all of the 14ers in Colorado within the next 3 years. That is my personal goal. I am not a professional nor do I claim to be more skilled than I truly am. True development is based on being honest with where you are, where you want to go, and the process of how you're going to get there. If you really want to skyrocket that personal growth, the best way is to find somebody who has already accomplished what you want to accomplish and mirror what got them there. Similar behavior yields similar results. A mentor if you will. That is the purpose of this thread. I will use this page to post goals, videos, pictures, as well as just general thoughts I have.
This isn't just for me. I am hoping that as I grow as a person and a hiker, that I will learn some valuable things that may benefit countless of others as well. I love this community and everything it has helped me with so far and it is only right that I give back.
