I shop a few places for surplus gear as I feel a lot of it (not all) is of good quality and priced accordingly.
The stuff I get might include ammo boxes/crates, clothing, packs, and even picked up some nbc masks a few years ago. I'm constantly scouting Sportsmans, Midway, Colemans and few others for more gear. I have boxes of unused gear like ammo pouches and vests, and clothing. I tell myself that I need to equip my neighbor/family, etc when the time comes. But, then I get frustrated because I have boxes of this stuff that take up valuable space.
But, then I go back and keep looking or buying when I see "a deal". Anyone else in this boat? What's the draw to military surplus? For me, I think one day, it will no longer be available.. like ammo, food, everything else so get it while you can mentality.. But, I'm not sure even what I have now (yes, I'll organize and categorize eventually). For full disclosure, I do have our primary weapons packs, weapons, GHB and BOBs already prepped and ready. This is EXTRA stuff..
So, if you do surplus, let me also ask - what do you buy at these surplus places and why, and where do you shop for the best deals?
Thoughts?
