Shot Spotter

There is a new bit of technology out there that most people are either ignoring, forgetting about or haven't heard about and it's called, "Shot spotter." The way shot spotter works is that it locks in on the address of where gunshots originate and alerts local police as to where shots are being fired. So if you fire off a shot outside of your house this new machine picks up on the sound of your gunfire and alerts the local police about gunfire coming from your house.

This machine is not 100% accurate but it is accurate enough to get the police into the general area of where shots have been fired within a couple of minutes. Remember when the D.C. Snipers were active? The police and military tried an early version of this machine to locate those guys with limited success.

There are several versions of these kind of machines. Some are located in fixed positions while others can be used in mobile versions from trucks or larger sports/utility vehicles. They even tried one that's been used from airplanes/helicopters.

I would imagine that Washington, D.C., has a number of these machines in place "just in case the peasants decide to revolt." After all, the Washington Elite don't want to voluntarily give up anything on their own accord.
