cessna 150h operating costs

Got a guy that's gonna take me up, do some scouting.

He doesn't have a commercial lisense so he says all I can do is give him $10/hour to cover half the gas.

Nothings stopping me from giving him money for his birthday.... whenever that is.

Internet says operating costs are ~ $40-$50/hour, but it's dated.

That still a close approximation?
(I know we have several flyboys here.)
